CLEANING GUIDELINES
GRANITE COUNTETOPS: For best results use a mild detergent, such as Ivory, with a clean cloth to wash the surface, rinsing with clean water and drying with a clean towel. If streaking or build-up occurs, a mild solution of vinegar (1 part) and water (3 parts) may be used, rinsing thoroughly. Do not use this on any other materials.
Granite countertops are sealed prior to installation. Depending upon the use of the granite, in-home sealing of the granite may be required after one to two years. Miracle Sealant may be purchased at our offices. Contact us for a location near you. 1-888-GRANITE.
GRANITE SEALING PROCEDURE: Fully saturate a 3"x 3"cloth with sealant and apply liberally until the stone looks wet. Allow sealant to penetrate the granite for several minutes. Use a soft cloth to remove excess sealer, then buff dry with another clean cloth.
Only seal the tops in one area at a time, (approx. 6-8 square feet) until the tops are complete. To assure the sealing process is complete, perform a water test. If the water does not bead up, repeat the procedure. Sealant may be purchased in our showrooms.
Note: If you are unable to remove some of the residue from the sealer, use fine steel wool #0000 to remove excess.
MARBLE, ONYX, LIMESTONE & TRAVERTINE: For best results use a mild detergent, such as Ivory, with a clean cloth to wash the surface, rinsing with clean water and drying with a clean towel. A rubber squeegee may also be used instead of a cloth.
Do NOT use vinegar or any acidic cleaners. These materials are softer than granite and acidic products may etch the surface.
SOAPSTONE: The surface of soapstone will acquire a patina over time, altering the color of the material. It may be maintained with oils which add to the colorization of the product, and will accept stains more readily than other materials. It is more susceptible to scratches and dents, adding character to its design. It may be cleaned with a mild detergent, rinsing thoroughly and drying with a soft cloth.
CAESARSTONE: In most cases, soap and water or a mild detergent is all that is required. If necessary, a non-abrasive cleanser such as Soft Scrub Liquid Gel with Bleach or Comet Soft Cleanser Cream with Bleach can be used along with a non-scratch or delicate scrub pad such as blue Scotch-Brite sponge. Thoroughly rinse the surface with clean water to remove residue.
