BACTERIA 
          Are my countertops safe from bacteria?  While stainless steel represents the cleanest countertop surface area, it is not likely to be used in the average home.  Granite and CaesarStone offer the best candidates for kitchen applications and are safe from harmful bacteria when kept properly cleaned.
           

CLEANING
            How do I clean my countertops?   Simple soap and water may be used to keep your countertops clean.  Most hardware stores now offer cleaning solutions safe for use on natural materials.  Abrasive or acidic cleansers should not be used as they may etch the polished surface.
  

RADON
            Should I be worried about reports on Radon?  Radon is present in many household construction materials, including granite, however it does not represent harmful values.  Read more at the Marble Institute of America's recently posted study.  www.marble-institute.com/industryresources/assessingexposureexecutivesummary.pdf


SEALING
            Is it necessary to seal my countertops?  After thorough and careful testing of various products, Capital Granite has selected Miracle Sealant as a recommended supplier of sealant products.  Your countertops have been sealed with Miracle Sealant prior to leaving our fabrication facility (excludes Soapstone).  This may be easily applied as needed in your home, typically on an annual basis.


STONE PERFORMANCE
            What stone is best suited for my home?  Typically Granite and CaesarStone is recommended for kitchen applications due to the strength and resistance to staining.  Granite will also provide additional heat resistance solid-surface materials can not match as well as properties best suited for stain resistance.  Marble, limestone and travertine are also often used for fireplace surrounds, furniture and vanities.
